A new method of inserting hydrogen in R2Fe16Ti compounds with R=Y and Nd wa
s employed with success. The insertion of hydrogen in the structure increas
es the lattice parameters and, in turn, the unit cell volume. The changes i
n lattice constants are in good agreement with those obtained by the classi
c hydrogenation method. The Curie temperature as well as the saturation mag
netization increase after insertion of hydrogen. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science
