Abstract
Phenomena associated with flow-induced transverse oscillation of an elastic ally mounted body are considered. The use of a recently introduced paramete r that combines the effect of mass and elasticity-effective elasticity-is e xploited to demonstrate the predictive value of the new approach and to pro vide insights into solution branching, the maximum amplitude of vibration, and modeling.
