A case of asthma due to menthol is reported in a 40-year-old woman with no
history of asthma or any other allergy. During the last two years, the pati
ent had presented dyspnea, wheezing and nasal symptoms when exposed to ment
holated products such as toothpaste and candies; The etiology was suggested
by the history of exposure and diagnosis was established by skin tests and
bronchial challenge with menthol. The patient achieved control of symptoms
by avoiding menthol and its derivatives.
