TSPIXE ANALYSIS OF MG CA RATIOS IN OSTRACODE SHELLS/

The mu m-PIXE setup of Fudan University has been used to study the tra ce elements of ostracode shells. Program TSPIXE was used to calculate their trace element concentrations. Stenocypris derupta Vavra, Doleroc ypria mukaishimensis okubo and Tanella opima Chen, three kinds of ostr acodes were analyzed. In this study, we concentrate on the relationshi ps between molar ratios of Mg/Ca and temperature, and between molar ra tios of Mg/Ca and salinity of the host water. We have found that the m olar ratios of Mg/Ca of ostracize shells are positively correlated wit h the temperature of the host water, but negatively correlated with it s salinity.
