The radiation pattern and the position-dependent distortion in a digital tr
ansducer array loudspeaker have been investigated and simulated by computer
. Harmonic distortion in the sound field is significant and varies with dif
ferent transducer arrangements. The directivity increases with increasing f
requency and varies with the transducer selection procedure. Randomizing th
e selection of transducers at each sample interval improves the directivity
but introduces high-frequency noise into the radiated sound field.
