Starting with the principle of the unity of the real, this study aims at ov
ercoming the dichotomy which obtains between the natural and the human scie
nces. The author opens with an examination of the relationship between scie
nce and faith, before moving on to a particular application (of the theory
involved) to the principle of causality: how does one move beyond the purel
y functionalist way in which causality is understood in the physical scienc
es.
