Abstract
Studies directed toward an application of the oxa-di-pi-methane (ODPM) photoisomerization to convert a bicyclo[4.4.1] undecene (i) to a bicy clo[5.3.1]undecene (3) are described. This transformation, which is eq uivalent to a 1,2-acyl shift, could find utility in the synthesis of b ioactive natural products possessing bridgehead unsaturation. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
