Abstract
Monte Carlo numerical simulations of Ising thin films have been used in an effort to characterize the dimensional crossover of the phase transitions i n nanoscopic layered systems with a thickness of a few atoms. In particular , we have determined the behaviour of the critical temperature, of the effe ctive critical exponents and of the crossover temperature. We have also com pared our results with experimental data for FeCo using a proper extrapolat ion.
