AIR-EIA - information sources for environmental impact assessments concerning air quality in Germany, Austria and Greece

Tenders for Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) for major projects have to be invited all over Europe, but offers for studies abroad remain often undone, because the requirements for such studies are unknown or only obtai nable with too much effort. In order to stimulate competition and harmonisa tion in Europe, the EU supported the project AIR-EIA in the frame of INFO20 00. The present paper informs about the achievements and the services offer ed by the project: The information needed for the execution of EIAs concern ing air quality in Austria, Germany and Greece were collected, processed an d made available user-friendly partly by CD, partly by Internet. These are basic informations concerning air pollutants and air pollution as well as s ources for the relevant environmental data and laws, in these countries fre quently used and accepted models and many case studies, giving an idea abou t the scientific depth and the effort for the presentation of EIAs in these countries. The material may also be used for educational purposes.
