Abstract
Theoretical study of swift heavy ions interacting with dense targets made o f low z material is the subject of the present work. An improved CKLT stopp ing formula is presented in its classical and quantum forms and a simple pr ocedure is derived for calculating the CKLT stopping cross-section with non -coulombic interaction potentials. This method is applied to Clq+ ions inte racting with a hydrogen gas target. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All righ ts reserved.
