Abstract
The energy losses and charge state distribution of C-12 Kr-36 and Pb-208 io ns in a plasma have been measured for ion beam energies from 3.6 MeV/u up t o 11.4 MeV/u. A capillary discharge plasma target with a free electron dens ity up to 5.5 x 10(19) cm(-3) and a brightness temperature of about 3.5 eV were used in these experiments. The experimental data are compared with pre vious theoretical and experimental results. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
