Abstract
An introduction to methods of effective field theory (EFT) will be presente d. Such techniques are becoming widespread in particle/nuclear physics and allow a systematic and rigorous expansion of low energy amplitudes. Applica tions to both particle and nuclear physics will be presented, including som e with astrophysical relevance.
