The scattering of muonic and pionic hydrogen in exited states from hydrogen
has been studied in a coupled-channel model. The threshold effects (the en
ergy shifts of the nS states) and, in case of pi (-)p, the widths of the nS
states are taken into account in a fully quantum mechanical framework. As
a result, a set of collisional differential and total cross sections (n = 2
- 5) which are needed for detailed atomic cascade calculations, including
the Stark mixing cross sections, has been calculated.
