Sz. Liao et al., MODEL-EQUATIONS FOR SOLID SOLUBILITIES IN BINARY NON-TRANSITION METAL-BASED ALLOYS, Materials transactions, JIM, 38(7), 1997, pp. 589-594
Both parabola and ellipse separating schemes are used to study the sol
id solubilities for the binary alloy systems based on the 18 simple me
tals. It has been found that the soluble elements can be separated fro
m the insoluble ones by a parabola y(1)=a-bx(1)(2) or an ellipse (x(2)
-m)(2)/c(2)+(y(2)-n)(2)/(d)2=1. The results show that the overall reli
abilities of the solid solubilities for the 1242 binary alloys based o
n the simple metals are 86.4 and 89% for the parabola and ellipse regu
larities, respectively. The constants m, n, c and d in the ellipse equ
ation are discussed, which can be related to some appropriate paramete
rs for each host metal respectively.
