Abstract
We present a model calculation, using the tight-binding approach, of a one- dimensional heterostructure consisting of regular alternation of two differ ent halogen-bridged transition-metal compounds (MX compounds). Superlattice and multi-quantum-well properties can be detected depending on the well-ba rrier alternation sequence. We prove the possibility of developing new mult i quantum-well devices based upon MX compounds.
