M. Pollmann et al., Formation of two-dimensional concentration pulses on microdesigned composite catalyst surfaces, PHYS REV L, 86(26), 2001, pp. 6038-6041
We study the effect of microdesigned composite geometries on pattern format
ion during the catalytic oxidation of CO on Pt-Ti, Pt-Ph, and Pt-Pd composi
te catalysts. In particular, we find experimentally (and rationalize throug
h modeling) that adsorbate surface transport through the second (active) co
mponent drastically affects the shapes and interactions of concentration pa
tterns (traveling pulses) observed on pure Pt.
