Three dihydroxynortropanes, 2 alpha ,7 beta -dihydroxynortropane, 2 alpha ,
3 beta -dihydroxynortropane, and 3 alpha ,7 beta -dihydroxynortropane, were
isolated from calystegine-producing plants in the families Convolvulaceae
and Solanaceae. 2 alpha ,7 beta -Dihydroxynortropane was isolated from six
species in the Convolvulaceae whereas only Calystegia soldanella contained
it and 2 alpha ,3 beta -dihydroxynortropane. Although neither of these were
detectable in three species tested in the Solanaceae, 3 alpha ,7 beta -dih
ydroxynortropane was, however, isolated from Duboisia leichhardtii. (C) 200
