Ceratophyllus altus Tipton and Mendez is reported from Huerquehue National
Park, Pucon (39 degrees 07 ' 40 "S, 71 degrees 42 ' 01 "W), Cautin Province
, Chile from the nest of Campephilus magellanicas (King). This is the third
report of the genus Ceratophyllus Curtis occurring in South America and th
e first record in Chile. Notes are provided on the distribution of the genu
