The preparation and the characteristics of an antibody specific for the 2-O
-beta -D-glucosides of C-19-gibberellins are described. The antibody, anti-
GA(26)-GEt-antibody, was prepared by immunizing rabbits with an immunogenic
conjugate of 2-O-beta -D-glucosyl gibberellin A(26) (GA(26)-GEt) and bovin
e serum albumin. The cross-reactivities of gibberellin glucosides with the
anti-GA(26)-GEt-antibody were examined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay
(ELISA). While 2-O-beta -D-glucosylated gibberellins such as GA(8)-GEt, GA
(26)-GEt, and GA(29)-GEt showed high cross-reactivity to the antibody, othe
rs did not. The logit-log standard plots showed the measuring range was fro
m 30 fmol to 10 pmol for the GA(8)-GEt and GA(26)-GEt. The validity of the
antibody was examined by the analysis of GA-GEts in immature seeds of Pharb
itis nil.
