Abstract
Different dyes solutions with suitable concentrations were subjected to inc reasing gamma irradiation doses and the colour bleaching of the solutions w as followed spectrophotometrically. The results obtained showed good linear relationships in the percent colour bleaching vs, irradiation dose plot in most of the systems. The data were used to compare the sensitivity of the different dyes to gamma irradiation. The applicability range and sensitivit y of the different dyes in solutions for chemical dosimetry purposes is rep orted. Several polymer films containing different dyes were also tested. So me remained unaffected by radiation up to doses of about 120 kGy, but other s had sensitivities that might allow their use as dosimeters in the kGy ran ge. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd.
