Pc. Pandey et S. Upadhyay, Bioelectrochemistry of glucose oxidase immobilized on ferrocene encapsulated ormosil modified electrode, SENS ACTU-B, 76(1-3), 2001, pp. 193-198
A novel enzyme electrode based on Pd-linked ormosil material having encapsu
lated ferrocene is reported. The ferrocene encapsulated ormosil is develope
d using Pd-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane, ferrocene monocarboxylic, trime
thoxysilnane, and HCl. The resulting ormosil is characterized by scanning e
lectron micrograph (SEM) and cyclic voltammetric (CV) measurements. A linea
r relation between peak current and square root of scan rate where the line
ar line passes through origin suggests reversible electrochemistry of ormos
il encapsulated ferrocene which is one of the novel finding of the present
investigation. The glucose oxidase is immobilized over the ferrocene encaps
ulated ormosil modified electrode using polyvinyl alcohol. The electrocatal
ytic response of immobilized glucose oxidase over ferrocene encapsulated Pd
-linked ormosil is observed and the results are reported which suggest that
the new ormosil matrix behaves as solid solution. The performance, stabili
ty, and reproducibility of new enzyme electrode and the contribution of pal
ladium linkage together with encapsulated ferrocene are reported. (C) 2001
