Abstract
Thermolysis in refluxing xylene of 4-(2-azido-3-nitrophenyl)-1,4-dihydropyr idines was investigated. beta -Carboline derivatives and related compounds were obtained in various yields, according to the nature of the substituent s in the 1,4-dihydropyridine ring.
