A new bisfunctional TTF type donor molecule (D-sigma-D) with a copper
iodine bridge has been synthesized and characterized. Its salts have b
een prepared using standard crystallization techniques. The structural
, electrical, optical and low-temperature magnetic properties of these
new compounds have been investigated. It has been shown in particular
that the compound (D-sigma-D)(TCNQ)(3) presents a low-temperature mag
netic ground state which is connected to the antiferromagnetic interac
tions of the bis-radical cation. This result opens the way to prepare
new extended-hybrid TTF molecules containing paramagnetic metals showi
ng related magnetic and electrical properties.
