Abstract
Recent results of an investigation programme for the assessment of lightwei
ght structures are reported. Special emphasis is laid upon the modeling asp
ect, and examples for the simulation of ductile crack growth by damage and
cohesive zone models are given. The numerical simulations are compared with
experimental data.
