Abstract
We report a female patient with mitral valve replacement and preservation o f subvalvular apparatus in which parts of the papillary muscle ruptured pos toperatively. During systole the ruptured papillary muscle prolapsed throug h the native aortic valve. Echocardiographic documentation and operative pr ocedure were demonstrated.
