Abstract
The RCE lime shaft kiln derived from She long established RCE high temperat ure shaft kiln which was adapted to meet the special needs of the productio n of had burnt lime. The first order for an RCE lime shaft kiln with a capa city of 150 t/d was placed by Porgera Gold Mine, New Guinea, in 1996 Since then Maerz has investigated further applications and carried out extensive tests at the pilot kiln at Radenthein. The lime quality produced in RCE sha ft kilns has now reached residual CO2 levels of less than 1%: The RCE kiln has prompted growing interest among lime producers as it fulfils all the re quirements for producing medium and hard burnt lime.
