Preparation of carbonates

The assessment of a deposit can only go hand in hand with its corresponding examination from the preparation point of view. This is the only way to fi nd the connection between enrichment and output and, consequently, the basi s for an economic valuation. However, in addition to these classical aspect s, the function of the material during use is getting more and more importa nt, in particular concerning carbonates and industrial minerals. These econ omic, physical and chemical functions have been, listed for calcite, and it is shown that the profit curve can be changed by leaps and bounds by fulfi lling the functional properties. Therefore, influencing the functionality o f the raw material by means of preparation may lead to an essentially highe r profit increase compared with the pure optimization of enrichment and out put. Preparation plants for carbonates or industrial mineral have usually g rown over the years. From time to time it should be checked if higher profi ts or more sales could be achieved by applying technical innovations.
