The study of the binary system Y2Ti2O7 - Fe2TiO5 and Eu2Ti2O7 - Fe2TiO5 sho
ws new solid solutions which are non-stoichiometric and crystallize with th
e pyrochlore structure. A Rietveld analysis of the (1-x)A(2)Ti(2)O(7) - xFe
(2)TiO(5) structure for A = Y and Eu is reported. The structural refinement
s were achieved in the space group Fd3m. Refinements show that the Fe3+ ion
s substitute for the Y3+ or Eu3+ ions with creation of vacancies in the tit
anium and anionic sublattices.
