Nasicon powder was first prepared using the colloidal route of the sol-gel
process and characterized by X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy and thermal
analysis. Then the sol of nasicon was coated onto a Moroccan clay macropor
ous support by slip casting. The membrane characteristics were determined b
y scanning electron microscopy and Nz adsorption-desorption. Pore diameters
are in the range 3 to 5 nm and the membrane thickness is about 1.3 mum Wat
er permeability is equal to 51/h.m(2).bar.
