T. Vullo et al., DIAGNOSIS OF CEREBRAL VENTRICULOMEGALY IN NORMAL ADULT BEAGLES USING QUANTITATIVE MRI, Veterinary radiology & ultrasound, 38(4), 1997, pp. 277-281
The brain of 17 asymptomatic normal adult beagles was evaluated with m
agnetic resonance imaging, Lateral ventricular size was quantified usi
ng computer algorithms, In beagles, vith large ventricles, contrast med
ium was introduced into the cerebellomedullary cistern to determine wh
ether obstructive hydrocephalus was present, Total lateral ventricular
volume ranged from 77 mm(3) to 11,726 mm(3), Based on Gd-DTPA diffusi
on, the CSF flow pattern was considered normal and normal neural morph
ology was seen using electron microscopy, Results suggest a high incid
ence of clinically asymptomatic ventriculomegaly in normal adult beagl
es.
