Abstract
Two types of Ocimum americanum (Hoary basil) have been studied of which cit ral type is new to Bangladesh. They differ morphologically and biochemicall y. GC analysis of essential oils showed presence of 83.22% citral in citral type and 45.29% camphor in camphor type as major constituents.
