Abstract
CdS and ZnO-capped CdS semiconductor nanoparticles were synthesized via hyd rothermal method by thermal decomposition of the cysteine-cadmium complex p recursor. The results of XPS suggested that CdS and ZnO was formed. Compare d to CdS nanoparticles, the band-gap emission of CdS/ZnO was greatly improv ed, which means the shell of ZnO modified the surface of CdS core and reduc ed the surface defect. ED confirmed the formation of hexagon phase CdS and the TEM image indicated that the size of CdS/ZnO was about 20 nm.
