Abstract
The title series of liquid crystalline compounds (BTBAAs) shows nematic beh aviour with broad mesophases. Their melting points are almost the same as t hose of the corresponding: chlorine substituted derivatives (CTBAAs). but t heir clearing temperatures are lower than those of CTBAAs. crystal and mole cular structure of N.N '-(2-bromoterephthalylidene)bis(4-n-butylaniline) (B TBBA) have been determined and proved to be quite similar to that of N.N '- (2-bromoterephthalylidene)bis(4-n-butylaniline) (CTBBA).
