Abstract
It has been discovered that active regions commonly have numerous flar e-like transient loop brightenings. We use a magnetic reconnection the ory driven by a ponderamotive force with transverse plasmons on accoun t of the basic properties of a transient brightening: lifetime a few m inutes and total energy 10(25)-10(29) ergs. The numerical results are consistent with the observations.
