The principles and methods of the phase analysis of multielement solid
inorganic substances are discussed with regard to specific features o
f their structure. Methods for separating complex mixtures with and wi
thout phase decomposition, methods for identifying known phases and de
termining new phases, and the possibilities of chemical methods of pha
se analysis such as selective and differentiating dissolution are cons
idered. The general prospects for the development of methods of phase
analysis are outlined.
