Mr. Kim et al., Syntheses and thermal properties of poly(hydroxy)urethanes by polyadditionreaction of bis(cyclic carbonate) and diamines, J APPL POLY, 81(11), 2001, pp. 2735-2743
In this study, we synthesized poly(hydroxy)urethanes by the polyaddition re
action of bis(cyclic carbonate) and diamine. Bis(cyclic carbonate) was prep
ared from diglycidyl ether based on bisphenol S and carbon dioxide. Thermal
properties and solubilities of the poly(hydroxy)urethanes of five differen
t diamines were compared. The thermal properties of the poly(hydroxy)uretha
nes depended on the structure of the diamine as well as the structure of th
e monomer. These poly(hydroxy)urethanes were soluble only in aprotic solven
ts because of the hydrophilic character of the hydroxy group. (C) 2001 John
