The principal pathways of electron-impact fragmentation were character
ized for a number of derivatives of phosphoric and methylphosphonic ac
ids under a set of specific ions that permits these compounds to be de
tected in complex matrices as found out for each of these groups. It w
as proposed to use specific differences between ion masses in mass spe
ctra of phosphorus-containing compounds as representative and selectiv
e group indicators together with the characteristic ions of these subs
tances.
