Abstract
The difficulties in optimizing the blown film extrusion process arise from the fact that the complex connections between machine parameters, the resul ting process status and the expected film properties are barely known. At t his time, cost- and time extensive trials are necessary to understand these connections. An appropriate simulation software can be an alternative to t hese extensive trials in the field of blown film extrusion process improvem ent and optimization. The developed process model with the resulting simula tion program makes it possible to calculate the process status in the melt and in the cooling air stream from the machine parameters. Therefore, the e ffect on the process status when varying process conditions can be estimate d quickly and effectively with the help of the simulation software BlowAix.
