Abstract
Sulfluramid (N-ethylperfluorooctane sulfonamide) is a highly effective inse cticide for controlling ants. It is usually incorporated into orange pellet s at a concentration of 0.3%, in combination with 4 to 6% soybean oil. The objective of the present study was to develop a capillary gas chromatograph y method for the quantitative analysis of sulfluramid and its isomers in or ange pellet baits with the addition of 1,2,4,5-tetramethylbenmene as the in ternal standard. The proposed method proved to be rapid and reliable for th e analysis of sulfluramid and its isomers in both raw material and baits. T he experimental protocol, the conditions, and the equipment for analysis, a s well as the recovery studies, are presented and discussed.
