We present non-equilibrium phenomena in ferromagnet/superconductor/ferromag
net tunnel junctions. In the junctions, spin polarization induced by the sp
in-polarized tunneling competes with the superconductivity. As a result, a
variety of non-linear superconducting and magnetoresistive phenomena are ex
pected. The superconducting critical current observed experimentally in fer
romagnetic manganite/high-T-c superconductor tunnel junctions is analyzed.
We also discuss the spin current backflow accompanied by the Josephson curr
ent caused by the spin injection. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All lights
