Abstract
The studies were carried out on PO geese (aged 4 years) with amyloidosis, s elected at random from a flock. The control group consisted of IO healthy g eese, also aged 4 years. The measurements included: hematology indices, pha gocytic and killing activity of peripheral blood neutrophils and proliferat ive response of blood lymphocytes stimulated in vitro with concanavalin A ( Con A) and lipopolysaccharide of E. coli (LPS). Moreover, the primary humor al response of fowl immunized with sheep red blood cells (SRBC) was defined by determining the number of lymphocytes producing hemolytic anti-SRBC ant ibodies (PFC) and the total and 2- mercaptoethanol resistant serum agglutin ation titers. The data obtained in the present study demonstrate that the hematocrit valu e and erythrocyte count were lower in geese with amyloidosis as compared to the healthy geese. It has also been discovered that amyloidosis: affects t he immune system, as manifested by a decreased phagocitic and killing activ ity of peripheral:blood neutrophils and an increased proliferative response of blood lymphocytes stimulated in vitro with Con A and LPS. Moreover, the primary humoral response in SRBC-immunized geese with amylodidosis was sho rt-lived as compared to the:control group.
