The conductivity measurements of 60WO(3)-40B(2)O(3) and 40WO(3)-5Sb(2)O(3)-
55TeO(2) glasses have been carried out as a function of temperature. The re
sults suggest that the conduction occurs by hopping of small polarons. Diel
ectric measurements of 60WO(3)-40B(2)O(3) glass show that the temperature b
ehavior could be described in terms of Debye type dispersion. The oxygen se
nsing properties of 40WO(3)-5Sb(2)O(3)-55TeO(2) were also examined. The red
uction in its conductivity in oxygen is attributed to the oxidation of W5ions to W6+ ions. A large change in the conductivity of this tellurite base
d glass in oxygen suggests that the glass can be used as a potential oxygen
gas sensor.
