The fluid phase behaviour of binary mixtures of xenon and the lighter perfl
uoro-n-alkanes, and and CF4 C2F6, of propane and sulfur hexafluoride has be
en examined using the statistical associating fluid theory for (SF6) potent
ials of variable attractive range (SAFT-VR). We found that the binary inter
action parameters calculated in previous work for (n-alkane + perfluoro-n-a
lkane) systems and for can be used to predict the (Xe + SF6), existing phas
e diagrams of (Xe + perfluoro-n-alkane) and mixtures, respectively. These r
esults (propane + SF6) are consistent with the view that mixtures of (xenon
+ perfluorinated-compound) can be regarded as a special case of mixtures o
f (n-alkane + perfluorinated-compound) and provide another example of the "
alkane-like" behaviour of xenon previously reported.
