Abstract
We report on a water maser survey in the Andromeda galaxy (M 31). The surve yed H II regions with (CO)-C-12 clouds are expected to be regions of ongoin g star formation with water maser activity. Nevertheless, we could not dete ct any water maser emission with an upper limit of around 0.35 Jy or 4.9 x 10(-3) L-circle dot in isotropic luminosity. These results indicate a low a ctivity of the present star formation in M 31.
