Abstract
An industrial coal injection installation for dioxin reduction at the Sidma r sinterplant No.2 was started up in December 1999, After verification of t he results, a similar installation was put into use at the sinterplant No,l , From 1998 to 1999 an extremely intensive dioxin measuring campaign has be en performed at the sinterplants of Sidmar, More than 500 measurements have been made. Several hypotheses and adsorbents have been tested for the redu ction of the dioxins, Process control improvements and the use of burnt lim e then allowed reducing the dioxin emissions by 85 %, For a further decreas e of the dioxin emissions, it was decided to build an industrial coal injec tion installation at the sinterplants, The present reduction of the dioxin emissions is higher than 95 % and will reach 97 % in 2001.
