The photoluminescence of solutions of synthesized fullerene-containing star
-shaped polystyrenes in toluene was studied at room temperature. The shift
of the peaks in the photoluminescence spectra to shorter wavelengths compar
ed to the spectrum of C-60 solution in toluene was observed. It was establi
shed that, in the first approximation, the magnitude of the shift is indepe
ndent of the type of chemical bonding of fullerene with an addendum (the co
valent nonpolar C-C bond or the covalent polar C-H bond); rather, this shif
t is controlled by the number of broken double bonds at the fullerene and b
y the corresponding redistribution of electron density. (C) 2001 MAIK "Nauk
