Abstract
The de and ac conductivity of polyaniline (PANI)-polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) bl ends have been reported from room temperature to 80 K in the frequency rang e of 1 kHz-5 MHz. The de conductivity has been described by the variable ra nge hopping (VRH) model. The large value of VRH exponent (>0.5) indicates t hat hopping transport occurs between the superlocalised states of polymer. The frequency (omega) dependence of conductivity satisfies the omega (5) po wer law. The variation of s with temperature suggests that the ac conductio n is due to the correlated barrier hopping (CBH). The onset frequency omega (0) is proportional to sigma (0). The permittivity increases sharply at lo w frequency and high temperature. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
