On the basis of known and newly-obtained data, average contents of gol
d in copper ores and their hosting deposits of various stratigraphic l
evels of the Early Proterozoic Udokan Series are reported. It is noted
that the gold potential of copper ores increases from the upper (Saku
kan Formation) to lower cupriferous level (Chitkanda Formation). Borni
te-chalcosine and chalcopyrite types of ores are characterized by the
greatest gold potential.
