We consider the hydrostatic equilibrium of relativistic-fluid spheres
for a D-dimensional space-time. Three physically viable interior solut
ions of the Einstein field equations corresponding to perfect-fluid sp
heres in a D-dimensional space-time are obtained. When D = 4, they red
uce, respectively, to the Tolman IV solution, the Mehra solution and t
he Finch-Skea solution. The solutions are smoothly matched with the D-
dimensional Schwarzschild exterior solution at the boundary r = a of t
he fluid sphere. Some physical features and other related details of t
he solutions are briefly discussed. A brief description of two other n
ew solutions for higher-dimensional perfect-fluid spheres is also give
n.
