Abstract
Single oral administrations of 1.0, 2.5 and 5.0 mg/kg body weight of t riazophos produced mild to moderate toxic symptoms of anticholinestera se poisoning in buffalo calves. The lowest dose was not lethal, wherea s 2.5 and 5.0 mg/kg produced 50 and 100 % leathality within 32-120 and 6.5-31 hr after dosing respectively. Triazophos in different doses in hibited erythrocyte cholinesterase (50.3 - 82.4%) and plasma carboxyle sterase (37.4 - 54.5%). The inhibition of erythrocyte cholinesterase w as dose-dependent and correlated well with severity of toxicity. There was marked elevation in the plasma levels of total proteins and blood urea nitrogen, following triazophos intoxication.
